What is a Water Flosser?
Water flosser is a dental hygiene device that sprays water. Just like the dental floss, it can be used to remove food debris in between your teeth. When you allow these residues to linger between your teeth it may cause your teeth to decay or cause plaque to form which may result in gum and oral disease. That is why it is important to get rid of these food debris regularly.
I am regularly using the traditional Dental Floss, should I use a Water Flosser too?
You don’t need to use both at the same time. If you are interested in using a water flosser but are unsure about it, Dr. Miriam Ting can share her recommendations and tips to help you decide. Below are the things you may consider if you want to use a water flosser:
• Traditional Dental Floss is more cost-effective than a Water Floss. The cost of the water flosser ranges from $40 to more than $100, and can last for years.
•If you are not diligent with proper flossing technique, then a water floss might be a good option.
• If you can’t use a traditional dental floss due to your certain limitations. Water flossing can help if you have braces, or your teeth are too spaced too tight that dental flossing doesn’t work for you.
• You generally don’t like traditional flossing, then use of the water floss can save time and keep your teeth clean regularly.
Now that you have some ideas on how a water floss can help you, decide if you need to grab one? Please keep in mind that you may still need occasional use of the traditional floss even though you are already using a water floss. Why? Because the water flosser may not be sufficient if something is firmly stuck between your teeth.
